A tribute to Condoleeza Rice and George W. Bush who, despite voluminious evidence to the contrary, said, "I don't think anybody could have predicted that these people would take an airplane and slam it into the World Trade Center, take another one and slam it into the Pentagon, that they would try to use an airplane as a missile," adding that "even in retrospect" there was "nothing" to suggest that" and "I don't think anyone anticipated the breach of the levees," respectively.

Rummy's Worst Day: Who Would of Thought It Would Not Be 9/11/2001?

When asked about his best day and his worst day in office

"Clearly, the worst day was Abu Ghraib, seeing what went on there and feeling so deeply sorry that that happened,"

Rummy felt so badly about seeing the abuses at Abu Ghraib that his first official response was to make sure he and the American people would not see any more disturbing pictures and videos of abuses and crimes by prohibiting the use or possession of cameras which might be used to create a visual record of them.

Common Dreams

I thought his worst day might have been the day 19 fanatics hijacked 4 planes, slammed two of them into two World Trade Center buildings somehow causing 3 of them to collapse. Of course, this event was seen as an opportunity to get the war they wanted, so for him, maybe it wasn't such a bad day after all.

Kind of reminds of the response his boss gave to a question at the end of 2001. "All in all, it's been a pretty good year for Laura and me." If you don't count finding out that the oceans no longer protected us that is.
